TrustedParts.com is excited to announce a partnership with Sluiceboxopen in new window, a generative lifecycle assessment (LCA) platform revolutionizing carbon intelligence within the electronic components industry. This integration enables approved OEMs to view powerful, precise carbon footprint data from Sluicebox directly in the TrustedParts.com Bill of Materials (BOM) tool, highlighting high-emission areas early in the design process.

Welcoming a “New Era in Environmental Intelligence”

Preferred by some of the electronics industry’s largest brands, peer-reviewed, and audited by third parties, Sluicebox's methodology provides reliable carbon emissions estimates. Sluicebox’s generative LCA utilizes AI to calculate carbon emissions at the electronic component level. Unlike traditional approaches, this solution provides faster, more accurate, and ISO-compliant results by modeling production processes and verifying them with validated data sources.

Sluicebox’s generative LCA helps the industry move beyond compliance toward proactive sustainability. Learn more about this innovative solution in our previous blog post, Sluicebox and TrustedParts Introduce a Novel Solution for Component-Level Carbon Emissions Data: Generative LCAs.

Viewing Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) Values in the BOM Tool

Calculating carbon emissions used to take months, but now it can be done in real-time within the TrustedParts.com BOM tool. Approved users can access the data by creating a BOM or opening a saved BOM.

Each part’s carbon footprint (kgCO2e) appears in the column next to the manufacturer name. The tool shows the kgCO2e per unit and calculates the total for the quantity to purchase.

In the header of the table, users will see a new calculation, “Total kgCO2e”. This is the total emissions estimation for the entire BOM.

kgCO2e in an example BOM

Approved users also have the option to include kgCO2e values in exported BOM files. In the export settings, there are two new checkboxes: kgCO2e (emissions per unit) and Total kgCO2e (emissions per unit multiplied by the purchase quantity).

Sluicebox carbon emissions data is only available to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) who have a verified TrustedParts.com account. Carbon emissions estimates calculated on TrustedParts.com may not be shared with third parties.

To request access to carbon footprint estimates, follow the instructions under the heading To Request Access in our documentation.

We’re excited to bring Sluicebox carbon footprint data into the TrustedParts.com BOM tool, giving engineers and sourcing teams deeper insight into the environmental impact of their component choices. By adding this valuable sustainability data, we’re strengthening our role as the trusted source for electronic components—helping our users make smarter, more informed decisions.

The Trusted Source for Authorized Inventory

TrustedParts.com was created by ECIA in collaboration with participating distributors as a free service to support the authorized electronic components industry by giving users access to aggregated price and availability data for genuine parts from only authorized sources.

While other inventory aggregation sites may include data from sources that are not authorized by the manufacturer, ECIA works extensively on an ongoing basis to verify that price and availability data displayed on TrustedParts.com is only for products for which the distributors are authorized/franchised. This is why TrustedParts.com is the best source for searching the authorized channel for the electronic components you need.
