Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - Distributors
What should a distributor do if parts aren't displaying on TrustedParts.com?
To make sure parts display properly, distributors should confirm the following:
If the distributor supplies its parts using a file feed, the parts must be included in the files supplied to TrustedParts.com. Or, if providing results to TrustedParts.com in real-time via an API service, the parts must be in the API response.
The manufacturer name supplied for the parts must be mapped to a TrustedParts.com manufacturer. Distributors can map manufacturers and review mappings using the TrustedParts.com Distributor Portal.
The distributor must be marked as authorized for the manufacturer. Distributors can review authorizations using the TrustedParts.com Distributor Portal.
How does a distributor get a “Buy” button or “View” button to appear with their search results?
The distributor must provide TrustedParts.com with a unique URL (web link) for the product detail page. If the distributor indicates a quantity is in stock, then a “Buy” button will be displayed, otherwise a “View” button will be displayed. If a product detail URL is not provided by the distributor, neither a “Buy” nor a “View” button will appear in search results for that product.
What if a distributor cannot provide a unique URL (web link) for each product in its inventory feed?
The distributor may provide a link to a search page on its website with the product entered as the part number that is searched for. Alternately, the distributor may provide a link to a quote page on its website. TrustedParts.com should be notified if the distributor provides a link to a quote page on its website, and the text of the button can be changed to ”Quote” or “Contact”.
